Title : LOOK AT THE VIEW
LOOK AT THE VIEW
A study in form and spirit, Boston based architect, Warren Schwartz drew partial inspiration for his Berkshire home from a family trip to the Grand Canyon, where they had stood at the precipice of a cliff watching the sun rise. For a girl who has had her moments with heights (an interestingly lives on the 44th floor of a high-rise), this home would take some getting used to. But the views! Imagine your living room at the tip of a 45 foot cantilevered structure, your bedroom perched 14 feet above the ground. Schwartz built and furnished the slim, 17-by-90-foot rectangular volume of glass and steel for one million dollars in 2009. It's brilliant architecture based on the best of nature.
The great room floats above the ground and has walls of glass on three sides with sweeping views of the surrounding, hilly countryside.
The home's poured concrete floor vibrates when the couple's 65-pound Standard poodle, Oberon, bounds with enthusiasm after a ball.
The décor is a tasteful mix of modern and minimal; a glass Le Corbusier table in the great room sits near an IKEA kitchen. The home's neutral color palette of black, grey, white and silver was kept simple so the landscape outside would remain the star.
