House Update - Week Twelve - Hello friends Home Improvement, On this occasion I will discuss the article entitled House Update - Week Twelve, I have provided various other latest articles. hopefully the article that I wrote is useful for you all..
The house is starting to take shape, and resemble a place we could actually live. The walls have gone up and plasterers busy setting the gyprock. Carpenters are now putting in the timber lining boards for the ceiling downstairs which looks fabulous, and the pool coping and paving has been completed. Electrician has been in to wire up the house and I have decision overload.
This week should see the waterproofer finish his work in the wet areas, so that the tiler can start next week. Very exciting now that the pretty side of the build is about to start.
Kids' bathroom with villaboard up
Master bedroom with old window filled in and gyprock up
Inside WIR with old staircase hole to be closed up
Looking into the kids' playroom with new wall and door frame
Old staircase now removed in soon to be playroom
This is the new wall we added in playroom that backs on kitchen. Closer to window than ideal, but necessary.
Kids' playroom had to be shrunk to make the kitchen larger
Insulation added in preparation for the lining boards
Old doorway patched up
Great to see the sun streaming into the kitchen area first thing in the morning
New wall had to be added and extended to make space for kitchen extension
Still a big mess
Kitchen window had to be moved twice- old loo still there behind the plywood
When it came time to layout the kitchen and electrical we realised that the space was too narrow and hadn't been well designed. There was only 900mm between the island and countertop, and the same from island to the bifold doors. It was just too squishy and seemed ridiculous for such a spacious house. The room is long and narrow so the only option was to push the wall back into the playroom and lose a metre from there. I was worried at first, and we had to leave this nib (see wall jutting out above) to hold up the ceiling without going to the expense of metal beams. So it was a relatively inexpensive exercise with great gains. We now have a big, spacious kitchen with a big 3m x 1.2m island and lots of room around. What a relief!
New decking. I opted for pine boards in the end, because I want to paint them.
Coping done around the pool in silver travertine
Pool coping and paving being set
Tilers did a great job because it was a real challenge getting the French Pattern to work in a small area
I was determined to have the French Pattern despite the pool builder saying it wouldn't work
Well, I made sure it did and think it looks fantastic.
An expansive timber deck will come up to the edge of the paving
Job finished - pool cabana will go at the far end
My husband is trying to get the hedge at the back started early to screen out neighbours
I chose Tumbled Silver Travertine which is a beautiful colour and a gorgeous material. Looks amazing.
Decks coming along in fits and starts
So I'm now onto the birthday planning phase of the week. Poppy turns 2 on Friday and we are having a little family gathering at the farm on the weekend, then Charlie is 5 next week and having a bash at our rented home in Sydney. Lots to achieve in my attempt to do an Amy Atlas, but I'm afraid I'm going to fall very short of the mark. So I'm hoping sausage rolls, fairy bread and lolly bags will suffice! They were good enough for me, so here's hoping!
