THINGS ARE LOOKING UP

I was downtown yesterday searching for a small antique store that had what I hoped to be the perfect cocktail table for my client. (It didn't) I got lost as I often do downtown where the streets don't follow the wonderful grid pattern found in other areas of the city, and yes, I have a horrible sense of direction to boot. On my second go around Prince Street, began to look at the building numbers and was amazed at the gorgeous Beaux-Arts architecture that stood before me.  

The old Singer building is such little jewel. Built in 1904 by noted architect Ernest Flagg, the elegant facade is a mix of steel, glass and red terracotta. Lacy balconies with delicate wrought iron railings give the building a sophisticated and delicate appearance. Little Singer is an elegant lady amongst the mass of glass and steel skyscrapers-pay her a visit the next time your downtown.
