Weekend Entertaining - Autumn Table

As the weekend approaches and the weather turns colder, I find myself thinking a lot about what I'm going to eat. I try to be disciplined during the week, but I have to admit that come the weekend it's no holds barred when it comes to food. Somehow I've convinced myself that the weekend gives me calorie immunity, although the scales on Monday morning tell me otherwise. I take my eating very seriously, and I look forward to and plan each of the three daily meals whether it be Yum Cha, or sushi train, homemade pizzas or a lazy ploughman's lunch, Sunday night tacos or my weekend favourite scrambled eggs and crispy bacon.

So I thought it might be nice to do a regular Friday post on weekend entertaining (who has time during the week!) - combining delicious recipes with simple ideas for decorations and table settings. I wish we could bring back the traditional Sunday lunch roast. In fact, I might just do that very thing. I remember it so fondly from my childhood, when the whole family actually sat down every Sunday to a lovingly prepared hearty meal and talked. There were no shops, no movies, no twitter, no sport, no facebook, no distractions - just time spent at home, with the family - together.

So, as it's the middle of Autumn here in Australia I'm starting with a cosy, belly-warming Sunday lunch. Hopefully you'll find some inspiration.
