Sweet Pea

For me the redemption of winter comes in the form of the flowers it provides, and along with spring it is my favourite time of year for beautiful blooms. I love seeing the first arrival of sweet peas in the florists, in all manner of soft pastels, along with the heady scents of hyacinths, jonquils, freesias, tulips, ranunculus, poppies and helebores.

I saw these sweet peas as I walked up the high street this morning and couldn't resist. I then had to buy something to put them in as all my vases are still in storage. It is such a glorious day I suddenly had a creative urge (the kind I get all the time as a frustrated former stylist!) and felt compelled to take some photos. I am immensely frustrated by my lack of skill and knowledge when it comes to using my digital camera and although I occasionally skim through the instruction manual, find it hopelessly inadequate. For example, I want to know how to adjust the focus and depth of field, so I can get that lovely blurry background. But it's not happening yet. Here's the result of my efforts. Pretty nonetheless.
