The perfect store front.

I must say that one of the things I loved about walking the streets of both New York and LA was drooling over the storefronts. They do them so well in the US. Always beautifully presented and landscaped with as much attention to detail on the outside as in - planter boxes with topiaries, flowers and shrubs, box hedges, vines and creepers, awnings and almost always white with blue or black details and the occasional pop of colour.

Here's a few I especially loved in LA.

Makes the whole shopping experience a delightful and memorable one even before you walk through the door.

Now before I go any further recounting my experiences in the US, I must pay tribute to the one person who made all this possible. My darling husband. He so kindly and generously offered to stay behind and look after the kids to allow me to go on this wonderful trip, indulge my whim and my passion, and do some credit card damage too. All while trying to run a company and deal with the dramas of renovation. He is an amazingly capable, confident, patient, calm and loving Dad and everything went swimmingly while I was away. I came back on Monday morning and walked in the door at 7.15am to find everybody up, beds made, clothes laid out, school lunches packed and breakfast underway. I would have still been in bed! My mother commented that he was a better mother than me! I think I'm out of a job.

So thank you my love, I treasure you.
